Back to school!

Today was the first day back to class. I guess I can't say 'was' since technically it is still going, I have a night class that runs way past my bedtime tonight. Anyhow, I am back into school and into the blogging world now that we got our new computer. As much as I loved our laptop, I have written it off as a bad purchase since it died (twice actually) in just three years. The first time it died it was still under warranty so we were able to get the thing fixed but this time, she wasn't covered and it was cheaper to let her go. Either way, I don't like replacing laptops every three years so we went with a trusty desktop.

Old blogging news....look at Robin and I in our CPH's :)

This is my first completed adult sweater. It is a little boxy but I was happy with it. I am now working on my second and am very exciting. I will never be able to knit sweaters at the rate Katie can, but I can try :)

Let's see...more news (I feel like this will be a boring post, give me some time to get back into it!). Ohh! So I am not much for 'resolutions' but I did decide this year was my year to start swimming to spice up my workout, ok, and I want to look good for Jen and John's wedding. Of course, I had to encourage myself by buying a cute swimming bag and a new suit. I put on my suit, grabbed a swim cap and goggles and went swimming for the first time in ohhh probably four years (way back when I was training for the Seagate Pittsburgh Triathlon). Anyhow, before I jumped in, trying not to look like an amateur, I looked at my rescuer. Yea, the guard, he was maybe 80 years old (not kidding)...seeing that, I figured I was probably on my own if I was going to drown today. I successfully swam for 45 minutes and am pretty sure I will be immobile tomorrow. I did have a good time though and will go back. The funniest part was that there was an old lady water aerobics class going on at the same time. While I was swimming they started working out to "Hey Mickey" and I saw two old men go to the closest lane available to the aerobic ladies. I had to laugh because the two old guys were definitely checking out the old ladies. ...did great things for my self esteem :)

New computer! I'm back!!

Sorry for not posting. Joel's work computer blocked me from everything fun (flickr, blogspot, ravelry....) so I have been very out of touch. I am learning how to get around the new computer (linux, yikes!) so give me time....will be blogging soon...

Computer woes...

11AM: Posting sure has been far and few between for me. For now, I got the laptop to turn on and am considering never moving it or turning it off, since that usually results in it not turning on again. I figured since it is on I better take this opportunity to blog!

3PM...ok the dog hit the computer with her tail and it shut off.....took me forever to get it back on, hope people read this....

Lets see. Christmas was great! I was able to go home for a bit and even got to see Robin and her CPH (see the pic of us on her blog (Jan 13 post), I look kind of crappy but oh well). I also got to hang out with Jen and John a lot and made their wedding invites. They are beautiful! :)

Let's see....I did do some last minute knitting. Check out Joel's xmas hat. I love it!!
Pattern: Komi Cap
Book: Hats On!
Yarn: Dalegarn Baby Ull - I really enjoyed working with this yarn, and it's superwash, yah!!!

I also made this hat for Paul (Joel was such a good model):

Pattern: Turkish Patterned Cap
Book: Hats On! (who would have guessed, can I say I'm obsessed)
Yarn: Berroco Comfort (yea I know, synthetic, but I didn't want to spend much)

I also just recently worked on this from some stash yarn....It's a GRRRR washcloth for Norah :)

Yarn: Manos Cotton Stria
Pattern: FREE

I also started the Alexander McQueen Knockoff sweater...no picture yet, only have the bottom band of the sweater done.

Oh, yeah, then one super secret project with this yarn:

If you haven't tried Berroco's Ultra Alpaca yarn, you need to. It's great, really soft, great stitch definition, and makes a great fabric.

Last project...Monkey Anklets...one's done!

Yarn: Shibui
Pattern: Here, kinda

Last point for today - here is Norah in her Uggs! :) Sorry the picture is kind of bad - she apparently turns into psycho baby when the flash goes off...

They look a little lumpy, I tried to tell them shoving rubber footy bottoms in the suede booties wasn't the best idea.

Ok, last point of all, and maybe most exciting. My Etsy Shop is up!!!! I still need to get my logo and stuff up there but most of the bags are on. Not many knitted bags on there yet because I sold most of them at the craft show and to others for Christmas presents.

No computer = time for upholstering???

Ok, so the laptop is still out of commission which means I don't have many knitting pictures to show (they are all trapped on the laptop). I assure your however, there are lots of knitted caps to share!!! Hopefully I will be able to get to them Thursday. I do have one picture of my new hat though. I really like it!

Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca blue and Off-white....one skein of each.
Pattern: Triple-Patterned Watch Cap
Book: Hat's on! by Charlene Schurch (seriously, I love this book so much!!)

With the recent loss of the laptop, I found myself taking on a new project. Upholstering my chair. I love this chair, beyond belief love it. However, this is what she looked like...

Because the chair was so hideous, we always had it covered with a throw, which was really annoying...

...this is how she looks now!

I am pretty proud of it since I have never tried to reupholster anything before. I will however say this was a giant pain and I never plan on doing it again. I am considering not allowing anyone to sit in it just to make sure it won't wear out.

Ok, I promise, knitting pictures soon....pray to the laptop gods
