Ok, I am trying to study for finals, write papers and the like so I don't have much time to blog. I promise, just someone get me through next Wednesday with chocolate and yarn and I will blog after that.
Just a few quick notes...
Last night on the news I heard "Get ready, winter is here!! We are expecting 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow!!" Seriously, this was said with fear in the newscasters voice. Ok, Michigan people, stop laughing! Honestly, this morning when I got up and biked to the metro their were only a few flakes coming down. Who knew the havoc it was about to cause! Not only were people around here freaking out (seriously, I saw one guy walk into school carting behind him a 48 pack of toilet paper and three cases of bottled water) but they drive like they are on crack! I was on the shuttle between campuses for an hour and ten minutes! It should have been a 35 minute ride, tops! Anyhow, I was amazed to hear so many accidents on the roads when the roads honestly were just a little wet. I decided there was no way people we sliding, they instead were staring at the snowflakes and forgot they were driving.
The one good thing that did come out of this is that I was able to work on a secret christmas project. I do have a gripe about the needles though. Last night I was working with bamboo DPN's when I noticed one was totally about to snap. I really didn't want to take them to school, as I knew I would have a nervous breakdown if it snapped and I was stuck without knitting on the bus. So, I reached into my bag and found a pair of Inox DPNS. And before you accuse me, they were the same size, I checked. Anyhow, when I put the DPN through the needle gauge it fit through the size 1 slot but slightly snugger than the bamboo. I tried sliding it through the size 2 slot and it was definitely too small. I thought, well if it goes through the size 1 hole it really can't be that much different than the bamboo, right? Wrong. I am now staring at a sock that is completed from the top down to the start of the heal flap and it is maybe a 1/2 inch longer than it's partner. The pattern is such that I can't fudge it either by just taking out a few rows. Any suggestions (by the way, ripping out and starting over isn't an option, I have a deadline ok!)??
...I knew I should have listened to that voice in my head that told me changing needles mid project wasn't a good idea, but instead I decided to ask my non-knitting husband what he thought. Bad, bad idea.
